Blood on My Hands

So I "saved a man's life" last night. Again. I was walking home from the bar, and there was a guy lying on the side of the road, still straddling his bicycle. Hit and run. I got him conscious, got him out of the street, and tried to keep him stable until the ambulance and the firetruck arrived. They took it from there. They always do. That's like the weirdest part, is that you're sort of really important for a few minutes, and then obviously, when they get there, you've got nothing to do. Then it's just "Okay, so...I'll see you". And then you have to drive (or walk) away, and hope nothing happens to you. Seriously, this is like the third or fourth time that I've found a man bleeding on the side of the road and called 911. Does this happen to other people? If not, is it just where I am, or do other people not stop? Whatever. It's not like I mind, it's pretty good for your ego. But last night, this guy was kind of...covered in blood, and it made me a little uncomfortable. I kept trying to not touch the bloody parts of him too much, and then I tried not to touch anything of mine until I got home and washed. That made me feel like kind of a jerk. Anyway, I think he'll be okay.
